Training takes place on a full-time basis. Outside instructional periods, there are learning assignments, homework, and studying manuals to be completed. We therefore advise against part-time jobs during training. In permanent positions, part-time jobs are possible and as a rule are authorized through the relevant Cabin Coach (team leader).

No, please organize accommodation yourself. We cannot assume the costs for this.

Discover Airlines will assume the costs of your training. In addition, during the training course you will receive an expense allowance of €500 per month. Responsible Cabin Managers start off straightaway with a contract of employment of indefinite duration.

The duration of the basic training course is currently ca. 10 weeks.

The training usually takes place in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt Airport.

The teaching language during the training course is German; however, most of the training materials as well as the exams are for the most part written in English.

If you pass though the preselection positively, you will be invited to a Recruiting Day by us shortly after. There, a number of individual and group tasks await you. We would like to get to know each other personally on this day and see whether we as Discover Airlines are a good match for you.

We start with an introduction of the Recruiting Team and give you insights into the company and the job as a Cabin Manager. Then you run through a group exercise and complete an English assessment. In the afternoon, in the second round, an interview, including role play, as well as a questionnaire about your personality await you.

A Recruiting Day at Discover Airlines is divided into a morning and an afternoon block. The morning block runs from 09:15 a.m. until ca. 01:00 p.m. If the morning block is successfully completed, the afternoon block follows from ca. 01:30 p.m. to ca. 06:30 p.m..

Your outfit can emphasize your personality. Therefore, we don’t wish to provide any precise requirements. So come to us wearing what you feel comfortable in. Nevertheless, it is, of course, an Assessment Center and therefore appropriate clothing is requested. A small tip which may help you: You can’t go wrong with business casual wear.

We will be delighted if you decide to participate in one of our recruiting events. However, we cannot assume the costs of travel to and from the event.

Please check in advance whether you have uploaded all the most recent necessary records and documents. Likewise, we ask you to bring with you the printed out and signed fact sheet and the declaration of exemption and to hand these in straightaway at the beginning of the Recruiting Day. The Recruiting Days depend on you, our participants. Of course, our candidates are always a little nervous, and curious too, and that’s to be expected. Our Recruiting Team ensure a relaxed and informal atmosphere throughout the day. We meet each other on an equal footing.

The starting salary is €2,300 gross per month, including an allowance for weekend work and shift work.

The allowance for weekend and shift work (currently, 16.3% of €2,200) is usually paid tax-free.

There is an additional flight hours allowance in addition to the basic salary depending on the number of block hours flown. Likewise, you will share in the on-board sales on your flights via a commission. Discover Airlines continues to offer numerous benefits in the travel industry, standby flying with all Lufthansa Group airlines and beyond, as well as benefits such as a Jobticket or a free parking place at the airport.

A block hour is relevant for the calculation of the additional flight hours and is deduced from the block time of a flight. This begins with Off Block (aircraft leaves the park position) until On block (aircraft reaches the park position).

Your basic salary covers 75 block hours. If you fly beyond this, these accumulated block hours will be compensated for separately to the basic salary.

Yes, Discover Airlines pays the statutory expenses rates.

We have a total of three salary levels. In principle, a change of salary level is possible after 24 months and requires participation in a voluntary, free internal further training course.

If there is availability, we will arrange a shortened Operator Conversion Course for you. To be able to take part in an Operator Conversion Course, a Cabin Crew Attestation in accordance with Part CC EASA is required.

In Frankfurt, entry with us is always full time. Thereafter, an annual application for a part-time model between 50% and 100% is possible. In Munich, you can start both full time and part time immediately.

In principle, it is possible to fly with us while doing flexible independent studying. However, classroom-based sessions are hardly likely to be consistent with the duty roster. We currently do not offer a dedicated study and fly model.

In principle, we try to grant all requests, e.g. in relation to part time and holidays. If this isn’t operationally possible, we work according to the fairness principle and we take into consideration social criteria. The work positions on board are assigned 12 or 24 hours before the flight by the Responsible Cabin Manager.

In principle, it is open to an employee to end their employment contract of their own accord at any time in compliance with an agreed period of notice. However, there is an obligation to repay the cost of training when the employment contract is ended by the employee himself or herself before the expiry of 12 months.

After just two years (under certain conditions even earlier), you have the opportunity to become a manager with Discover Airlines. An internal call for applications is permanently open and courses take place regularly according to need.

As the duty rosters look very different from month to month, it is difficult to make general statements. However, basically, you should prepare yourself for not being at home for more than half the month. With our short- and medium-haul routes, you are always at home again in the evenings, but on the move the entire day.

In Frankfurt, you will be employed on mixed fleet flying on both aircraft types with Discover Airlines and you will be heading for all the destinations in our route network – on short-, medium-, and long-haul routes. In Munich you will only fly short- and medium-haul routes.

The duty rosters can look very different. Up to 100 block hours in a month are legally possible. As a rule, the actual block hours flown, however, are significantly below this.

The duration of the so-called layover varies depending on the destination and timetable period. Many destinations are served with very short layovers with a stay of a little more than 24 hours. Longer layovers are rather the exception but also occur occasionally.

When on so-called standby duty, you must be able to reach your base station within 60 minutes. Apart from this, we make no rules regarding your place of residence. However, we would like to point out that commuting is very cost- and time-intensive and we always expect of our crews that they appear on time and well rested for duty.
